The purpose of the International Driver's License is to translate your government-issued native driver's license into the most common foreign languages. This makes it easy for foreign officials to interpret your driver's license.

The International Driving License, which is valid for one year, proves that you hold a valid driver's license in your country of residence. It will also help protect you and your family in the event of a accidental vehicle damage while abroad, or the loss of legal identification such as a passport. The IDL is recognized all over the world and is available in 10 different languages in order to help overcome language barriers. There is no required test to take. But, you must be at least 18 years of age or older. And, you must have a valid government-issued driver's license to get your IDL.
